FUNERAL bluesstop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone, silence the pianos and with muffled drum, bring out the coffin, let the mourners aeroplanes circle moaning overhead, scribbling on the sky the message he is dead, put crepe bows round the white necks of the publicdoves, let the traffic policemen wear black cotton was my north,my south,my east and west,my working week and my sunday rest,my noon,my midnight,mu talk,my song;i thought that love would last forever:i was stars are not wanted now;put out every one;pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;for nothing now can ever come to any good.

“诺丁山”原音唱片在音乐电台里介绍过,几乎是整张cd的歌,“shania twain”的“you've got a way”很靓的一首抒情作品,“98°”那首“i do”也一如往昔很甜~~但最吸引的非“elvis costello”的“she”莫属。

FUNERAL customs

FUNERAL customs baofengba in yunnan province is a village inhabited by the hans. at the village, i witnessed the FUNERAL of an elderly woman named yin caiyun.

the main room served as the mourning hall. red candles were placed in front of the casket which was flanked by pine branches and red and green paper balls and flowers. after relatives and friends bowed to the deceased, lit the incense and candles, they presented the family with glutinous rice cakes, candies and wine. then they took turns standing by the casket. when the family started to cry for the loss of (本站隆重推荐好范 文网:)a family member, eight men and women with drums on their waists, led by a man with a wooden dragon head in his hand, started to dance to the beat of the drums in vigorous steps. when the music stopped, the dancers started to walk slowly, singing a mourning song.

according to the han custom, a mourning ceremony includes paying respects to the deceased, gift-giving and a banquet given by the family of the deceased to express their thanks to friends and relatives. villagers from baofengba adopted the yi's way of mourning because they thought getting the whole village together to dance and sing at the ceremony was a good way to show their respect for the dead and consolation to the family.

when i left the village i could still hear the loud mourning song: it is very hard to find a thousand-year-old person in the world. it is also not easy to find a hundred -year-old person in the world. i was told that the guests attending the mourning ceremony would take turns to sing and dance all through the night. when the FUNERAL procession was held on the following morning, the family members of the deceased would walk in front, holding the mourning streamer. the younger generation in the family were required to kneel down, letting the casket pass overhead. on the way, people would stop after walking every hun

dred meters to sing and dance around the casket until it was buried in the mountain.

"i'm lieutenant john blanchard, and you must be miss maynell. i am so glad you could meet me; may i take you to dinner?" the woman's face broadened into a smile.

"i don't know what this is about, son," she answered,

第五篇:west FUNERAL custom

FUNERAL traditions

this main topic focuses on all subjects, but not limited to, topics dealing with modern FUNERAL traditions and customs from the u.s., and abroad. it also covers, FUNERAL etiquette, disposition options, religious rites, wakes, vigils, traditional FUNERAL alternatives, as well as, mourning and grieving practices. it also includes pallbearers, eulogies, processions, obituaries and more.

FUNERAL traditions

burial and FUNERAL customs are the methods and ceremonies used in the disposing of bodies of dead persons. people have always had a deep reverence for the dead. the FUNERAL ceremonies they have adopted have grown out of their views on death and the after life. the most common methods of disposing of bodies are; interment (burial) and cremation

(burning). other forms of disposition include:mummification, bequeathing of the body, direct disposition, cryogenics, and various forms of natural decomposition. many practices are based upon religiousbeliefs, and may directly effect the disposition choice.

FUNERALs customs

disposal of the dead

burial, the method most common in western countries, is usually in a grave in a cemetery plot. sometimes burial is in a vault, or chamber. there are burial vaults in some churches, and some cemeteries have buildings (often called mausoleums) containing al may also be in a stone coffin, or sarcophagus, which serves as a monument to the dead. graves, burial vaults, and burial monuments are all called tombs. in western countries the body is usually placed in the grave on its back, with thelegs fully extended. moslems are buried in the right side, facing holy mecca. when buddhists use burial they put the head to the north with the face upward, as buddha was buried.

early christians adopted the custom of putting the feet toward the east so that at the resurrection the reborn might hurry toward the sunrise. many primitivepeoplesburied their dead in the fetal position, with knees drawn up toward the chin. there was a belief that death is related to birth, and that the body in the grave is awaiting rebirth.

in former times almost every cemetery had elaborate and impressive tombstones. now the trend is toward the simple, and often the stone is merely a marker.
